Are any of the following true?

  • Your patient’s arch is edentulous
  • The arch does have teeth, but insufficient AP spread, like the following examples:
    • Just second molars
    • Only 22 and 27
    • 22 through 27, but in a very straight line

If any of these conditions exist, then your patient is insufficiently dentate and will need a marker-based protocol.

If your patient has 3 or more teeth, and they form a good triangular spread, then your patient is sufficiently dentate.
